Today thousands gathered in Germany to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Our delegation was represented by our Secretary of State Hillary Clinton who spoke to the crowd. Our President Obama who did not attend also spoke to the crowd from a location here in the USA. I was surprised that not once did either one of them mention the name of Ronald Reagan. History will tell us that he was one of the greatest Presidents of this century. He was fighting communism since his days as an actor. The Writers Guild was full of people that were attracted by this form of government. Ronald Reagan stood up then although he was in the minority. In a speech on June 12th 1987 at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin he said the following words, "Mr. Gorbachev open this gate, Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall." Yet it is sad that his name was never mentioned today by any of our leaders representing us the USA. President Reagan played a major role in the demise of the Soviet Union as well as the end of the Cold War yet our politicians of the opposite party cannot appreciate such a historic accomplishment.
